In the spirit of my favorite holiday season, Christmasssss, here is a list of gifts that I would love and I know your fellow book lover would love also!
1. Books
Specifically, something from their to-read list. Check out their Goodreads or hey, buy them a popular book in genres you know they love. Maybe even a book that I’ve reviewed and recommended *hint hint* 😉
On the topic of this, I know a book shopping spree would make me the happiest girl, so if you want to make someone else the happiest person in the world, this would be the way to go. Picture this: a date touring book stores and picking up a couple of books from each. Such a dream!
Lastly, this might be an easy way out (however, still appreciated) is a gift card. Maybe one to Barnes & Nobles or a local bookstore.
2. Book Shelf/ Bookcase
Every book lover wants to keep their books on display, get creative or stick to the basics. A classic wooden shelf is great, especially if you have the space for it. Or go with something more design-forward. I personally have been eyeing this stacked-book tower tree style:
Or a more affordable version on amazon:
Maybe a new floating shelf, that they can decorate with other trinkets too. There are so many different types, cater it to your person’s interior design style.
3. Build them a library
I’ve seen so many crafty people build their loved ones moody beautiful libraries with sliding ladders or one that’s hidden behind an unassuming door. This might just be our version of the Beast’s library for Belle. Of course this comes with some prerequisites: large space, large funds, and large…brain? It would be a dream, but keep reading to see some more feasible ideas. This one is for the over achievers who know they’re the best.
4. Customized Book Embosser
I received this for my birthday and I screamed! I’ve always wanted to create my own library, and so, when I got this I was beyond excited. It’s such a fun personalized gift. Especially if you love lending out your books, people know where to return them.
5. Kindle
This is specific to electronic readers. Please don’t get this unless your giftee has expressed interest in it. Also, don’t forget to add some funds so they’re able to buy books there. I’ve heard that the Kindle Colorsoft just came out, and apparently now, there’s color? Get this one if you’re planning on it.
And if they already have one, get them accessories to decorate and personalize it like a new case, pop-socket, key chain or stickers!
6. Audible Book Subscription
Similarly, if your book lover is a book listener, pay for their annual subscription or a book or two. This would also be a great gift for someone who doesn’t really have time to read but loves podcasts. This would be a great way to get them hooked.
7. Reading Journal
Oh the joys and limitations of being a human who can only read a finite amount of books in their lifetime, to have already forgotten details about a book they’ve read as a high schooler. I know that the books I’ve read are slipping my mind, and by writing reviews I feel that I’m capturing the essence of how it made me feel. A reading journal gets at the crux of this, capturing your initial thoughts, ratings, and feelings. I bet it would also create a link to a stronger memory of the book.
You could get a premade reading journal like this:
Which I actually got for a friend, and they let you customize it!!! Here’s a special offer: you can get $10 off your first $30 order when you click this link: https://mention-me.com/m/ol/fq6nz-christyna-yang and I get a nice $10 off too. No pressure but hey, who doesn’t like ?
On the other hand, you can get fancy and make one yourself with craft supplies or even digitally. Think of the possibilities!
8. Bookmarks
I don’t know about you but I seem to always be using random post-its as bookmarks. Though they’re functional, they could be cuter. So here are some cuter bookmarks idea:
- A photo booth strip of you guys
- Leather hearts Amazon Leather Hearts Bookmark
- Tea bookmark Uncommongoods Tea Cup Bookmark
- Or the magnetic ones Etsy Arthur Library Card Magnetic Bookmark
9. Book Nooks
Have you seen those super cool book nooks that are a portal or glimpse into another world. They are such a conversation starter and super customizable. I’ve seen Harry Potter alleys, fantasy worlds, or cute little coffee shops, the possibilities are endless.
Happy shopping and happiest reading!
